BULAWAYO has added five more vaccination centres in response to the growing number of residents who want to be vaccinated.

In a statement on Wednesday morning, Bulawayo Town Clerk Mr Christopher Dube said five more centres including Ekusileni Hospital are now designated vaccinating centres.

He said other centres are CIMAS, MASCA, VIVAT and Large City Hall.

Bulawayo health services director Dr Edwin Sibanda this week revealed that the city’s health institutions are facing shortage of nurses, a development that is affecting the smooth running of the mass vaccination programme.

Following the commencement of the mass vaccination programme to all eligible adults last week, Bulawayo has been vaccinating residents in the 19 council clinics.

The city’s central hospitals, United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH), Mpilo Central Hospital and Ingutsheni are other vaccination points.

More than 100 000 Bulawayo residents have received Covid-19 first dose jabs while above 60 000 have administered the second jab.
