ZANU-PF has bagged 46 council seats after other political parties failed to field candidates to contest in the harmonised elections set for 30 July.

In a notice on Tuesday, Zimbabwe Electoral Commission said the 46 Zanu-PF candidates were duly elected councillors in their respective wards with effect from 30 July, as no other nomination papers were accepted for the said wards at the close of nomination on 14 June.

According to the list Zanu PF was unopposed in 19 wards in Mashonaland East, 13 in Midlands, nine in Mashonaland East, four in Matabeleland South and one in Matabeleland North.

ZEC is still to release the names of candidates who will contest for the 210 National Assembly seats while 23 candidates will contest in Presidential elections.
