The Zimbabwean delegation in Antwerp, Belgium, visiting the Antwerp World Diamond Council will today have a tour of the diamond office to familiarise themselves with the process of auctioning the gems. A number of presentations will be made later in the day by representatives of the Belgian government and those from the AWDC.

Zimbabwean ambassador to Belgium Mrs Margaret Muchada is also expected to speak about the prospects of local gems finding their way onto the international market.

The visit by the Zimbabwean delegation is expected to come up with tangible results to pave way for the gems to be traded at Antwerp, the world’s largest diamond trading centre with nearly 2 000 buyers.

Zimbabwe has been welcome by the AWDC following the lifting of sanctions by the European Union on the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation and its subsidiaries which restricted selling of the diamonds.
