IMAGINE a laugh that would change someone’s life? Bulawayo’s top comedians will get residents laughing for a charitable cause as they join hands with the Bulawayo City Council in a show aptly dubbed the Mayor’s Cheer Fund Comedy Show. The event, an annual fundraising show to help the underprivileged, will see the comics coming together again after leaving audiences in stitches last week at the Umahlekisa Comedy Show at the Bulawayo Amphitheatre.
The entry fees, $5 for adults and $2 for children will be used to spread cheer among the under-privileged in the city.
The show, set for the Small City Hall, will feature the city’s foremost comics Clive Chigubu, Ntando Van Moyo, Keith Nkosi, Long John ,Elando Da General and Nomsa.
In a statement, Bulawayo City Council senior public relations officer Nesisa Mpofu invited all to attend the show in order to donate to the less privileged in society.
The show is set for the Small City Hall at 6pm.
“The Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund comedy show is part of efforts to bring cheers to the disadvantaged members of the community this festive season,” said Mpofu.
One of the comedians, Ntando Van Moyo said anyone who missed the show would eternally regret it as the comedians would be in top form.
“This is a family show and we are calling on everyone to come and support the Mayor’s Cheer Fund and donate to the under-privileged,” said Moyo.
The 2013 Bulawayo Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund is targeting to raise $100,000 to donate to the underprivileged members of society.
So far, more than $30,000 has been pledged for the fund.
Last year’s target was $150,000 and proceeds were distributed to 25 institutions and 4,153 individual beneficiaries.
