Laughter the best medicine

programme called “Just Kidding”, which would also crack your ribs from laughing as people fell for various pranks on the show.

These are just examples of how prominent media houses always carry a section to get their target audience laughing and having a good time. Of course, to come up with such programming research would have proven and supported that it is necessary to provide such material for the audience.

The world we live in today has so much worries, stresses and strains and if not careful one can get so immersed in them. If you turn on any news network today, it follows a probability of one that you will leave the television set thinking that all the world is about today is negative, trouble, problems, financial crisis, wars, famines and civil unrest.

A copy of our local newspapers or any other newspaper anyway in the world will never be complete without some tragic story of an accident or a grossly cruel story of rape or gender based violence or statistics of the number of people dying or succumbing to diseases.

Seems much of what we consume about the view of the world is negative and it paints a gloomy picture of the world around us. It looks as if evil is winning over good. But is that entirely the case? Is the world around us all about suffering, sorrow and distress? Of course, not! Even though we have some evil going on around, we surely do have much good going around us.

Like the untold stories of the kind-hearted volunteers who provide home-based health care to our terminal patients at home and still expect little to nothing in return; stories of young boys and girls who visit sickly grandparents and children and old homes to help with the chores there.

We have men that provide for their families and are in their homes in time to watch their children grow under their protection and families.

Of course, given that gloomy picture of the world one can easily fall into depression that is why laughter becomes the best medicine in such a world.

No matter what you hear or what you see you need to find time to have a good laughter, even if it is for no apparent reason.

Bringing this home; you might have many troubles and many problems at home, or school but that is not the end of the world. Your parents might be finding it hard to find your school fees for one reason or another but hey, life goes on.

You might not have all you ever wanted in life, but you are still breathing, aren’t you? You still have to carry on with the hope that tomorrow will be a better day and it will carry better prospects and fortunes. Do not let all the bad things happening steal away that laughter from your life.

Regardless the negativity you could chose to find the positive going on and savour it while it is there and while it lasts. Did you know spending your day with a toddler, who has not mastered how to utter even a single word, could give you great and happy moments full of laughter and joy?

Find your laughter from the simple and often overlooked things in life and assuredly it will be worth it. It takes way less energy to smile than it takes to frown, so just be energy conscious and preserve the energy you have for things more productive than getting sad.

Next time you receive a piece of bad news that could steal away your happiness and joy, why not just go movie hunting?

Look for a good cartoon movie that will get you laughing throughout and rejuvenating your soul. There are no questions about it, laughter is a fire to the soul that sets you ablaze and gets you fired up. Go to the movies with a few friends and look for a comedy to watch that will get you in a good mood in no time.

You will by now know the actors that give you a good laugh for your money, guys like Adam Sandler, Steve Harvey and Kevin Hart, to mention some of the comedy names.

If all that is beyond reach just get yourself on a jokes website and get a good laugh, because hey, laughter is still the best medicine.
Don’t waste your life in misery; laughing is still affordable after all!

Till next week guys, God bless you all.

Ciao . . .
