Law Society of Zimbabwe elects new president

Lawyer Wellington Magaya has been elected president of the Law Society of Zimbabwe.

Mr Magaya will be deputised by Rumbidzai Matambo.

The two were elected at the first council meeting of the year on Monday.

The new Law Society of Zimbabwe president takes over from Thandaza Masiye-Moyo.

In a statement issued by LSZ, Mr Magaya said he targets to deal with maintaining the integrity of the profession.

“The president said he takes over leadership of the society at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted the world and the the profession has not been spared,” reads part of the statement.
