He was 51.
Mr Mamvura, a senior partner with Scanlen and Holderness law firm died on Wednesday at the Avenues clinic.
He had been unwell for the past two months.
Mr Sternford Moyo, a senior partner at Scanlen and Holderness, who worked with the now deceased, described Mr Mamvura’s death as a huge loss not only to the family but the legal fraternity and the entire country.
“Godfrey, a very pleasant, independent and competent lawyer of integrity will be sadly missed by all at Scanlen and Holderness,” he said.
A colleague, Mr Tawanda Chitapi echoed Mr Moyo’s sentiments.
“He was straightforward. He goes down in the history books of the legal fraternity of Zimbabwe as a person who is difficult to replace,” he said.
Mr Chitapi said he had worked with Mr Mamvura at the Attorney General’s office as law officers before they both left for private practice.
“He is one lawyer who distinguished himself,” he said.
Born on July 24, 1961, Mr Mamvura graduated from the University of Zimbabwe with a BL (Honours) and LLB degrees.
He prosecuted in various Magistrates’ Courts from 1985 to 1989.
In 1989, he was appointed to the Attorney-General’s Office where he became a Chief Law Officer.
While in the AG’s Office, he was seconded to the Crown Office in Scotland where he prosecuted commercial crime cases.
He left the AG’s Office to join Scanlen & Holderness in 1994.
Mr Mamvura, who had extensive civil and criminal litigation experience, is survived by his wife Nomusa Mamvura and two sons.
Burial is scheduled for today at Tete village in Mvuma.
