Lead Zimbabwe organises all stakeholders’ meeting

Lead Zimbabwe chairman Mr Doug Mamvura said the meeting was organ­ised in conjunction with Faith Min­istries, Heads of Christian Denomina­tions and Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe, Kairos Leadership Devel­opment and the Sapes Trust.
He said stakeholders at the confer­ence would discuss challenges facing Zimbabwe such as corruption, politics, and homosexuality, among other issues.
Mr Mamvura said the purpose of the meeting was to inspire and encour­age Zimbabweans at leadership level.
“The objective is to bring all leader­ship stakeholders together and discuss challenges affecting our nation.
“It is in the Bible in the book of Proverbs 14:34 where it is written that righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people,” he said.
Mr Mamvura said they wanted the voice of the church to be heard in all national issues. He said it was important that as a nation people work together towards a common objective.
Mr Mamvura said the conference would give a rare insight into some of the policies being pursued by both political and business leaders and an opportunity for the church to interro­gate them.
He said plans were under way to make the conference a national event.
Several senior Government officials were invited to the inaugural meeting to share their views on Zimbabwe’s political situation.
Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambara and Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment Minister Saviour Kasukuwere, Infor­mation, Communication and Technol­ogy Minister Nelson Chamisa and Regional and International Co-opera­tion Minister Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga are some of the notable Government officials who would grace the conference.
Political analyst Dr Ibbo Mandaza would also partner in discussing the political situation and providing a his­torical perspective.
In a Press statement, the conference host and moderator, Dr Shingi Mun­yeza, said: “We are very excited about the convergence of the church (from different denominations), Govern­ment leaders (from different political parties) and captains of industry (from differ­ent sectors) coming together to talk about the future of our country.”
The conference would also focus on economic issues with a number of renowned business leaders expected to participate.
Some of the business leaders who will attend the conference are Confed­eration of Zimbabwe Industries presi­dent Kumbirayi Katsande, Kingdom Bank founder Nigel Chanakira, lawyer and businesswoman Mrs Florence Ziumbe, NicozDiamond chief execu­tive Mrs Grace Muradzikwa and Dairi­bord Holdings chief executive Mr Antony Mandiwanza.
Lead Zimbabwe is a Christian initia­tive aimed at bringing key stakeholders together to discuss issues central to the country’s socio, economic and political development. The 2012 conference was designed to give leaders from various sectors of the society a platform to dis­cuss issues that will bring desired trans­formation in Zimbabwe.
