LEGACY

Life is a journery and not a destination. One day a time shall come when one reaches his or her destination, that’s when an individual makes his or her last breath and leave earth. The fundamental question that would arise is, “what type of legacy have you left behind yourself?”, is it going to be bad or good, who knows ?.

I am so much concerned about what I am going to be remembered for. What really matters to me is that what are people going to say about me when I am gone. In the community that I live are people going to emulate my footsteps and mimic my character? I now begin to wonder. I think it is a thing which lies between illusion and reality.

The naked truth is that decision making plays a major role on the type of legacy one is going to leave. Decisions that we make on a daily basis depend are going to move us further or closer to our legacy. The legacy that all of us we are going to leave in this world is like a signature of one’s life and real character. Wrong actions at times corrupt our legacy.

One thing which determines all this is the way we are living today. It is like a sequence, the achievements we are going to set for ourselves, will determine our actions and character. In turn our character and actions will determine our habits and works .These works are the ones which are really going to determine our destiny. All these things including destiny lie in our bare hands. The good achievements that we bring forth for ourselves, are the ones which are going to create a legacy that we want to leave behind ourselves .

Another point to note is that sometimes as we individuals have to follow our instincts, this doesn’t necessarily mean that we have to do whatever comes in our minds, a big NO!!.The point I am trying to emphasise on is that sometimes we have to do things with specific reasons which are helpful and meaningful in our day to day lives, so as to implement the sense of humanity to the world and the different societies we live in. Besides the fact that we all make mistakes, this reflects the type of legacy one wants to leave. This is just advice which is optional ,to take it or to leave it since we all know that the best insult which can be given to a man is advice.

The days of our lives should be fruitful and exceptionally successful .Only those who are inspired to live their lives to the fullest know the value of leaving a legacy before they are gone. Life should be punctuated by desires to live a life of purpose. As we get closer to our final destinations we should decide what we want to be remembered for. Is it fornication, hatred, drunkenness, cruelty and theft? This question is unavoidable, because the day shall come when this fundamental question demands answers.

In consideration of all the above, my advice to my fellow peers is that let’s visualise the legacy that we want to leave. Contemplate on a new lifestyle. Go for a life that honours intergrity, love for other people and honesty. We are all born to make a history and overwhelming victory.
