BUDDING players currently honing their skills at Legends Football Academy got just the kind of injection they needed to chase their dreams when a local information technology company Kenac Computer systems came on board to support their centre of excellence.

Legends have seen their profile grow over the years after creating some career pathways and championing the development of a host of young players at their Eastlea base in Harare.

They have a number of players who are currently on loan to Premiership and Division One clubs. Legends recently secured sponsorship from Kenac Computer Systems, a privately-owned IT company that was established in 1999.

Part of the deals entails: “providing financial support for training, equipment, and opportunities to compete at higher levels, levelling the playing field and giving them a chance to showcase their skills and potential.

“Kenac believes it is important to sponsor young footballers, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, because it recognises the immense potential and talent that these individuals possess,” read part of a statement from the company.

“Kenac is committed to making a positive impact on society and sees sponsorship as a way to contribute to social change by providing opportunities for underprivileged athletes to excel in their chosen sport.

“By supporting these young talents, Kenac aims to empower them to overcome barriers and pursue their dreams, ultimately fostering a brighter future for both the athletes and the communities they come from.

“Kenac understands the transformative power of corporate sponsorship and the profound impact it can have on the lives of these young individuals, helping them develop not only as athletes but also as well-rounded individuals.”

The company added that it is hopeful that the excellence they strive for in business would transcend to the age-group players at Legends Academy.

Kenac added that it was keen to see inclusivity in local sport.

Legends Football Academy director Farai Dhliwayo was naturally elated to secure some corporate support.

“Without sponsorship support it would be impossible for our  project to survive. It is rare to find sponsorship for development projects as most corporates rush to support the big national teams once they are on the red carpet.

We thank Kenac for believing in our vision and seeing the potential in these young players. They are young players today but will be national team and international stars in the future,” said Dhliwayo.
