THREE friends have been arrested for being illegally in possession of a pangolin trophy and leopard skin worth more than US$20 000.

Elector Kufandirori, Taylor Kurehwatira and Josphine Jiri appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi yesterday.

On Monday, police officers from CID Minerals Flora and Fauna obtained information that the three had the animal products and planned to sell them in Harare.

Posing as potential buyers, police arranged to meet the three at Kilwinning Shopping Centre, Hatfield, before arresting them when they failed to provide permits to sell the items.

The pangolin trophy is worth US$5 000, while the leopard skin is worth US$20 000.
