CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League match day 12 has come and gone. It, however, did not just pass, as there were some upsets, twists and turns in the countryas topflight league. Here are some of the main interesting facts that were picked up by B Metro Sport.
Keep calm the Sky is still Blue as Dynamos bounces back on track
Dynamos, who had an indifferent start to the season, picked up their fourth consecutive win after edging Bulawayo City 1-0 last Saturday at Barbourfields Stadium to probably let their poor start to their campaign go down the drain.
After taking over the coaching reins from underperforming Portuguese gaffer Jorge Paulo Silva, Lloyd Mutasa seems to have found the rightA formula and the former champions, taunted by opposition fans when they occupied the relegation zone,A now lie on position five, six points adrift from joint log leaders Highlanders and CAPS United who are both on 26 points.
Highlanders and CAPS United get reality check
Things have been going well for Highlanders and CAPS United who together with FC Platinum have been the pace setters of the league. Their good start had given Bosso and Makepekepe the league a?title favouritesa? tags.
However, a reality check was given to both clubs on Sunday. Bosso were tripped by their fellow city rivals Chicken Inn on a 2-0 score-line while Caps United allowed Hwange to come out of the capital city with a valuable point after the coal miners scored a last minute equaliser in a match that ended one-all.
Prior to their game against Chicken Inn,A Bosso had enjoyed a nine-match unbeaten run and Lloyd Chitembweas mentored Green Half of the capital was equally on song only to be stopped by sporadic Hwange who have been even submissive to PSLA newboys that include Mutare City Rovers.
Bosso fans could not accept the defeat and they reacted by throwing missiles onto the pitch at the end of the match.
CAPS followers reportedly demanded to see Chitembwe after their game against Chipangano.
The centre cannot hold for Tsholotsho
After playing 12 games, Tsholotsho FC have gone down eight times their latest defeat being their 1-0 loss to Triangle.
Lizwe Sweswe and his charges are second from the bottom with eight points, two ahead of Border Strikers.A Iziqholo ZeZhwane have only managed to post two wins and on Saturday they play host to equally struggling Mutare City.
Border Strikers delight, Chunga misery
Border Strikers have anchored the log standings for the better part of the season. Prior to their match against expensively assembled Harare City they even dominated the headlines after parting ways with their coach Saul Chaminuka.
Interestingly, against all odds there was delight at Beitbridge border town as Strikers shocked Moses a?Bamboa? Chungaas guided Harare City with a 1-0 win which happened to be their second victory of the season. It was Chungaas second consecutive defeat at the helm after taking over from fired Taurai Mangwiro.
All is not well for Kelvin Kaindu and How Mine
How Mineas 1-0 defeat at the hands of visiting Ngezi Platinum was their fourth loss in their last six matches. As a result, Kaindu and his boys find themselves on number 10 with 14 points after posting three wins, five draws and four defeats.
While the local football family has in the previous years observed Kainduas projects (Highlanders and Triangle) get off to a flying start in the opening stages of the season, the writing is on the wall that all is not well for the gold miners.
