LET FOOTBALL BE THE WINNER

THE countdown on social media and in the mainstream media has been explosive all week and, after all the drama, Scottland and Dynamos will plunge into battle at Rufaro tomorrow.

On paper, this is just a clash between a championship-chasing team and a giant which is battling against relegation.

But, in reality, we all know that this is much more than that.

There are so many sub-plots.

Denver Mukamba alone is a big sub-plot.

He was one of the stars who powered Scottland into the Premiership with his goal at Ngoni, when Mabviravira drew 1-1 with MWOS, which was the defining moment of that Division One championship race. However, he was one of the players who were released and he now finds himself at DeMbare where his arrival has helped the mini-revival.

Scottland have shaken the domestic Premiership since their arrival on the scene at the beginning of the year.

The Scotts believe they represent the future of the Castle Lager Premiership where the clubs will have their own stadiums, training grounds, a thriving academy and a club village.

Dynamos represent the establishment and despite all the challenges they have faced they still feel they will bounce back to be a major force on the domestic football scene again.

The arrival of coach Kelvin Kaindu at Dynamos has breathed life into the Glamour Boys in a season in which they struggled on the field and had won just two league matches before the Zambian’s arrival.

The Glamour Boys have already beaten MWOS, who were the best team in the first half of the season, knocked Simba Bhora from the Chibuku Super Cup and have now moved within two points of the clubs above them.

This has united their camp, which was deeply divided to the extent that some of the club’s fans were now boycotting the team’s matches, and they will arrive for the clash against Scottland bullish that they can win this battle.

Scottland, who have brought a new crop of fans to the domestic Premiership, including celebrities like Jah Prayzah and Killer T, believe this is one of the toughest hurdles they have to clear in their bid to be champions.

Some analysts believe that this could be the biggest game in the championship race this year.

They even believe that this game will attract the biggest crowd we have seen at a local Premiership match this year.

Our plea to the fans is that they should understand that this is just a football game and there will be three results—a win, a draw and a loss.

The last thing we want to see in this huge game is violence, especially the one that comes from the stands when the fans feel that their club has been given a raw deal by the match officials.

We also appeal to the referees that they should handle this big game in a very fair manner.

ZIFA should allocate their best referees for this big showdown.
