Whoop, it’s good to go! The year 2015 is officially here and in two days’ time the new school year begins. You can now leave all your troubles, bad grades, grudges or enemies behind and embrace a fresh start. As usual, CLS will walk you through to the brim of events lined up for this term.

This time of the year is really everyone’s favourite because of meeting new friends and talking about the past holiday.

Is it?

Who wouldn’t love the idea of endless possibilities and anticipation of learning new things?

Some are going to high school for the first time and can’t wait to experience the much talked about school activities and the whole concept of learning more than four subjects.

As we focus ahead, 2015 will be an eventful year with a lot of sporting and educational amenities; it’s all work and no play.

Usually the first term starts on a low note but that does not prompt one to an early slumber. This is the term when lots of athletics activities will be taking place.

CLS would like to urge all the old and new high school comers that it’s time to put on their cool boots to soldier on.

To all those attending high school or boarding school for the first time, keep in mind that the opening day will be extremely busy and your chances to speak to individuals may be limited as you will need to get used to the environment. However, as time goes on, you will adjust and get comfortable.

If you are a Form One, the easiest way to survive in this setup is to quickly find a primary school friend or befriend someone you trust and join together to boost each other’s confidence.

To the rest of us familiar with high school, the new school year is a definite opportunity to try and mend ways with your studies as you begin to take more challenging subjects.

They may prove to be complex and overpowering but that’s not always the case.

For starters, you need a study plan that guides you through the whole term for a change. If you have the privilege of going to a boarding school make use of the study time provided by your school.

Some students who spoke to CLS expressed mixed feelings on the upcoming new school term.

Some said that they are excited to meet new friends and have a chance to correct the mistakes they made last year. Others, especially those starting Form One said that they are nervous for they do not know what to expect in high school.

One of the students who are starting Form One this year, Takura Muzondiwa said that he is more nervous than excited to start the new term.

“There are lots of activities people talk about that take place in high school and I’m not sure if I’m going to handle the pressure especially when it comes to studying more than four subjects. I’m looking forward though to meeting new friends,” said Muzondiwa.

Form Four student at Sandringham High school, Hazel Chaza, said that the new term is going to be an exciting one for her as she will be now an Ordinary Level student.

“I can’t wait to start the new term because I am now an O-Level student and this year I will be writing my final exams. I also can’t wait to meet new friends and learn new things,” said Chaza.

This term, we will also get last year’s results for the Zimsec November Ordinary and Advanced level exams.

We are really looking forward to this one and we hope that you are all going to be satisfied with the results.

To those starting their Ordinary and Advanced level this year, we hope that you will learn something from those results and strive for excellence.

Stay with us this term as we bring you all the exciting news and activities.

Let the homework begin!
