The recent attendance and use of rowdy bouncers at a popular musician’s road shows especially around Nkulumane will have a very negative effect on his following.
The unruly gangsters do as they wish, shouting obscenities and beating up innocent people. On 25 February, in one of the shows, they turned violent and beat up people using all forms of objects.
People ran for their dear lives with the hooligans in hot pursuit.
We also implore relevant authorities to effectively arm the police in order to deal with these bouncers and if they are failing, at least enlist the services of the army.
The surprising thing is that these thugs are well known in Tshabalala and Nkulumane and go by infamous names such as Bhejane and Satan.
Finally, may I call upon the residents of Bulawayo to stand up against them by forming residents’ groups as they are causing havoc in our midst.
May the city fathers also assist and close households and beerhalls that harbour these rogue elements. It is disturbing that they beat up people claiming to be revenging the death of their boss who was chopped to death by a rival gang during their wars in Mphoengs last year.
Instead of going back to where they were defeated and lost their father figure, they are now venting their anger on the innocent and defenceless souls of Bulawayo.
Nicholas Ngwenya (worried resident), Bulawayo.
