Lifeline for Bafana

Bafana coach Gordon Igesund said the decision gives South Africa another chance in the competition.

“We welcome the decision, which I believe was expected. It was never in doubt because rules are rules, so in our view it is a correct decision.
“The decision also gives us a second bite on the cherry. We now have to beat Botswana and hope Ethiopia loses or draws against Central African Republic. I am very pleased with the outcome,” said Igesund.

This penalty threw the race for 2014 qualification wide open in Group A. Ethiopia still lead the group with 10 points, followed by South Africa on eight points and Botswana now on seven, following the three they benefited from the Ethiopia debacle. The Central African Republic (CAR) remain bottom of the group with three points and their race has literally ended buy they could still prove to be party spoilers.

The CAR will host Ethiopia in the final group match to be played in a neutral venue. – SuperSport.com
