Likembe on Zim tour

Band manager Kwanele Mpofu said the group was working flat out to stage shows around the                                     country.

“Some of the boys are still university students so they use semester breaks and public holidays to regroup and map their way forward. We want to make use of these free days to make the band grow.

“Likembe is definitely going to make an impact on the music scene both regionally and internationally,” said Mpofu.
The new outfit is seemingly on the right path to be one of the Zimbabwe’s finest contemporary afro-jazz bands following the release of their single titled “Pamakaiisa”.

“Pamakaiisa” talks about the HIV and Aids and how many people are finding it difficult to abstain from casual sex.
The song is a plea to the public to practise safe sex all the times in a satiric approach taken in trying to educate the public on sexually transmitted diseases.

The group has matured with age like wine since its inception back in 2011.
Nyabinde, who is following in his father Bob Nyabinde’s footsteps, vowed to take music to a higher level soon after completing his degree programme.
Sekeromo is a powerful poet and usually writes most of the songs for the band.

The six-piece band fuses poetry and afro-jazz and term their music “Likembe” music.
Ever since the band’’s inception, they have performed in areas around Harare and other provinces.
The eight-track album ‘’Pachopisa” is a thriller judging from the lyrics.
