UNITED KINGDOM based gospel singer, Angie Lindiwe is flying the Zimbabwean flag high with renditions from her second album “Hlala Nami” released in December last year.
Lindiwe has shared the stage with South African gospel music icons such as Rebecca Malope and Sipo Makhabane while she supported Reverend Togarepi Chivaviro, Baba Mechanic Manyeruke, Takesure Zamar Ncube among others.
Last week, Lindiwe said her family was instrumental in igniting her passion in music. She said: “I was inspired to sing at a very young age. I was raised in a deeply religious family with very strong Christian values. My passion for music started in church as I grew up in Bulawayo. I started singing at the Apostolic Faith Mission of Africa (AFM) church founded by Reverend Morgan Sengwayo.
“My mother is a diligent Christian so back in the days we used to attend all church services. Eventually I found myself leading the Sunday School choir. So in a way my inspiration started really from my family,” said the 40 year-old artiste.
Lindiwe said her music seeks to spread the gospel, heal broken hearts and turn people back to God.
“I have two albums under my belt: ‘Uyisiphephelo’ (2015) and ‘Hlala Nami’ (December 2016). Currently I am working on my third album. Songs on ‘Hlala Nami’ include; Vumani izono, Bhek’uthando, Usiphephelo remix, Ngeke ngivune, Sothembela remix, Hlala name, Ndinomufara. Lindiwe said her latest album opened doors for her.
“Last week ‘Hlala Nami’ was played on the Star Fm Gospel Greats future hits and I am glad that people received it well.
“It is more difficult and expensive to get people together here because they all have other priorities. However I am planning a southern Africa tour which will enable me to stage concerts and family shows in Zimbabwe. I am looking forward to launching my third album end of this year but in April I will release a video followed by a live DVD recording on July 29.
“I enjoy music and find great joy in composing, singing and performing but most of all I enjoy doing it for God. I attribute everything I have achieved to God; I try by all means to reveal the love I have for God through my music.
‘‘In addition to that I intend to continue being used by God to do His work. My goal and wish is to create music that brings people to Christ,” she said.
Lindiwe said all her songs are inspired by her everyday life.
“When I am thinking deeply I end up coming up with a song. This could be a prayer for the situation or thanking God.
‘‘Most of my songs are influenced by life situations. However some songs I just wake up singing them.”
