Winky D aka the “Ninja President” will once again connect with his fans at an event organised by Lion Lager with whom he made a breakthrough after he shared the stage with top Jamaican reggae/dancehall artiste Beenie Man.
Although Beenie Man is an international performer he admitted that Winky D had the charisma and zeal to take the Zimbabwean dancehall to greater heights. Since that time the Ninja President has not looked back and continues to push the envelope.
Known to speak on behalf of the ghetto youths, the Ninja President’s music inspires his fans to fight to better their lives.
Jah Prayzah, who has just returned from the United Kingdom, will be more than happy to feature at the gig after his not so successful tour overseas.
The “Tsviriyo” singer got a rude awakening when he performed in Leicester after the promoter of the show failed him.
However, that is all in the past, he is back home where he belongs and his fans will be more than happy to see him on stage.
Perhaps Jah Prayzah learnt a thing or two during his UK tour and will do well now that he is back home. He is not a lousy performer as his critics say but the Campus Nites provides him with the opportunity to prove himself.
Some have likened Guspy to Demarco for his high energy on stage and the way he sings. However, Guspy is in a class of his own.
Currently receiving heavy rotation with his club banger “Seunononga”, the preacher’s son is one of the best talents in Zimbabwean dancehall. His collaboration with Winky D on
“Buss Di Shot” remains a classic and hopefully the two will perform the song together.
Patricia Murambinda, the Lion Lager marketing manager, said they have introduced yet another exciting activation in the market called Campus Nites Activations 2013.
“These activations make a welcome introduction into the market buttressing Lion as a beer behind music and musical festivals.
“Lion Lager has supported its consumers’ passions over the years and will thus significantly assist in the development of musical festivals in Zimbabwe.
This activity was carefully selected from a list of potential sponsored activities simply because it stands as a passion for us Zimbabweans and the Lion Lager drinkers as well. The activations see Zimbabwe’s biggest beer brewer engage in the market through the most loved passion point — music.
“The activations will act as a build- up to the coveted Lion Summer Festival, pencilled in for the 12th of October 2013 this year.
The activations will start in Harare and will move across the country in the major cities which include Bulawayo, Masvingo, Mutare and Gweru culminating into the big day in October.
“We are delighted to introduce the Lion Campus Nite Activations and further our shared aim of uplifting music in the country. Music plays a central role in our lives and only the best beer has to support this initiative.
“Lion Lager has stood the test of time in music sponsorship and will continue to engage in promotional activities to uplift both the brand and music in Zimbabwe,” Murambinda said.
