Liquor Hub to hold Fun Run, Charity Walk

HALF of the total sponsorship package for the second edition of the Liquor Hub 10KM Fun Run and 5KM Charity Walk-A� bankrolled by city businessman Raj Modi a�� will be donated to a charity organisation.

This yeara��s edition is penciled for 4 December and $5 000 will go to charity organisation while the other half has been set aside for athletes prize money.

Last year Mustard Seed a�� a charity organisation that looks after children who are infected or affected by HIV and Aids, those that have been abandoned by their parents, disabled, mentally challenged and vulnerable children a�� received $5 000 worth of groceries.

Mustard Seed is located 20 kilometres on the outskirts of Bulawayo and was founded in 2002 by a Jamaican Catholic called Gavin Augustine.

It is an international organisation which has spread its wings to Jamaica and Haiti among other developing nations.

It currently looks after more than 50 children ranging from zero to 15 years old.

a�?This year another charity organisation will receive $5 000 worth of groceries from the Liquor Hub fun run and charity walk although we are still to identify the recipient,a�? said spokesman for the sponsors Stanford Mazura.

Registration for the race and charity walk has been opened at the Liqour Hub Wholesale, situated along Fife Street.

Registration fees are pegged at $5 for seniors and $2 for juniors.

The top three in the senior men and women categories will each receive $500, $300 and $200. The junior men and womena��s first price is $150, runners up $100 and third placed $50.

Wheelchair race winners in both the mena��s and womena��s categories will get $200 and runners up $150.

There are no prizes for the masters and grandmasters categories.

In the 2015 inaugural race Kelvin Pangiso triumphed in the mena��s category crossing the line in 30 minutes 36.40 seconds while Rutendo Nyahora won the womena��s category finishing the race in 34 minutes 54,23 seconds.

Mqondisi Moyo claimed the junior mena��s first prize of $150 in a time of 32 minutes 04,87 seconds while Raviro Magomo won the womena��s category in 37 minutes 36,53 seconds.
