Speaking on the sidelines of a show held at The Joint Sports Bar at Nkulumane Complex on Friday, the director of the group, Nkululeko Dube, said the move was aimed at enhancing the quality of their performances as they embark on collaborations with live bands.
“We are looking at embarking on collaborations with live bands. This is why we have come up with this project,” said Dube.
He revealed that the group was looking at working with Ndolwane Super Sounds, Cool Crooners as well as Jeys Marabini.
Dube said the group, which turns 10 this year, will seek to forge effective links with the community.
“This year is our year of growth and we are building a culture of going out. We are mainly focusing on staging our shows at community centres like community halls and other leisure centres.
“We are taking the arts back to the community because that is where we started 10 years ago,” said Dube.
As part of this initiative the group will perform every Friday at The Joint Sports Bar which is co-owned by Joe Tshuma and Mkhululi Nyathi. Dube said the focus on community programmes will not affect their tours
overseas as they had plenty of human resources cover. He added that the focus this year will be to strengthen the Iyasa brand at the same time penetrating the Asian market especially China and Japan.
“We are going to make this year a year of growth and we will enter new markets while maintaining our old ones. We are targeting the far East especially China and Japan as we strengthen the Iyasa brand,” said Dube.
He said the group will, from April, embark on a whirlwind tour of Austria, Germany, Canada and Japan.
