Many artistes trying to break through into the industry have fallen prey to bogus promoters who want to make quick cash, he said.
This had over the years left these artistes demotivated resulting in half-baked results.
“As I was working at Moonlight Studios, also known as Dawn Studios, in the city, I happened to come across S’bu who at that time was looking for funds to complete his album.
“I was impressed by his work and as a promoter I strive to see the success of these artistes because many a time they fall prey to greedy promoters who just want to make it big in terms of money,” he said.
After Makombe sampled the artiste’s work, the musician was signed up and has managed to release his album titled S’bu vs Sbonga Number 1 Sgebengu.
“I am very grateful for my promoter’s efforts to complete my album because I had been struggling to release it for some time.
“I think there is a lot to learn from promoters like Chamz whose marketing strategies are efficient,” said S’bu whose album is already in the market.
His album has 11 tracks, some of which have been already introduced to the public. “I have performed alongside France and Don of the Seqamabhilidi hit in Luveve’s Lobengula Hall where the tracks Skhova and Isgubhu Esisha won the hearts of many.
“I have also performed in Esigodini’s Jabula Inn where the response was also good,” he said.
While some musicians are waiting to make a name for themselves Makombe said in the music industry it is either one makes things happen or things do not happen at all.
“This industry is very tough and it is either one strives to let all the stations know what one is all about or nothing will happen,” he said.
