Local firm in bid to create strong local brands

company that was incorporated last year.
Branding Concepts director Mr Kelvin Nyikadzino said the initiative is driven by the support they received from Government in setting up the firm.
“Branding Concepts is where it is today because of the indigenisation programme, hence one of our key aims is to augment local corporate brands so that they stand out among global brands.
“We believe that we are not only providing corporate and leisure wear but strategic competitive business identity.
“We believe, for any company to excel in today’s turbulent and dynamic global markets having a strong corporate brand is pivotal,” he said.
Branding Concepts is among one of the many young corporations that emerged in conjunction with the indigenisation drive that seeks to empower indigenous Zimbabweans.
The company, which is also an agent for an international corporate image company Barron Range (Africa), is involved in corporate wear, corporate gifts and safety wear for mines.
Corporate branding is an attempt to use corporate brand equity to create product brand recognition.
It can result in significant economies of scale since one advertising campaign can be used for several products, as well as facilitating new product acceptance because potential buyers are already familiar with the name.
Mr Nyikadzino said their clothing and gifting range offers a vehicle through which companies can express their strategic vision, presence, dominance and success in the competitive global markets.
“In essence corporate wear is not just some other form of dressing but in actual fact moving billboards that fight your war in the marketplace,” he said.
He further indicated that his company will be working with a number of companies that will be participating at this year’s edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.
Meanwhile, the company will tomorrow  host a dinner dance in Harare where it will showcase its range of products.
Corporate branding has in recent years taken a foothold in Zimbabwe, with many local firms beginning to appreciate its value.
The Marketers’ Association of Zimbabwe, which launched the SuperBrand awards concept in 2010, has also buttressed it.
The awards, which are now an annual event, seek to recognise and promote marketing excellence and professionalism by awarding and recognising top brands in the country among the various sectors.
