WHEN Herentals and TelOne clash in a Castle Lager Premiership match at the weekend, there will be a powerful sub-plot to the showdown.
Both clubs will take to the field wearing kits supplied by local sportswear firms who are beginning to shake the industry.
Herentals, who have picked good form and unbeaten in seven league matches, will be wearing a kit supplied by local sportswear firm, Viego.
The Students’ new kit, with a touch of pink and white, has been described as one of the best kits in the domestic Premiership.
Herentals chose to partner a local sportswear firm because, according to a club official, “we believe we would be promoting our own people, creating employment and playing our part in ensuring that the money we spend there circulates locally.”
The official added:
“We should believe in our own companies and that is the message we are sending out there.”
The sportswear firm said:
“Our Premium kits are made of special imported dry wicking fabrics ….. feel awesome.”
Their opponents, TelOne FC, will be donning kits supplied by local sportswear firm, Dakarai.
“We are thrilled to debut these modern, stylish kits that pay homage to the rich heritage of TelOne FC,” said club president, Oscah Nduwure, when the kits were unveiled.
“Our players cannot wait to take to the pitch and we believe our supporters will be proud to wear these kits which will also be available for purchase.”
