Veteran Bulawayo model Constance Connie Ndlovu has taken her passion to another level by organising Miss Winter 2019 and inspiring talented young girls around town to prove their worth in the industry, regardless of lack of resources.
Connie’s modelling journey started at a very tender age and she has blazed the stage in many pageants as a zealous model.
“It all started in 2002 when I modelled for Miss Townsend and got the podium position.
“Even though I didn’t have many resources for the game, I always gave it my best and now it’s time for the young blood to show what they’ve got even though they might not have much to enhance their talent,” said Connie.
Connie in association with Justine Clothing, have organised Miss Winter and it’s going to be held at The Vista on Friday.
In the past she has facilitated Miss Valentine’s 2017 in Parklands, Miss Marisha in Old Magwegwe and Miss Outrageous at Walkers Pub, to mention a few pageants under her belt.
The veteran model revealed that she now has her own modelling agency called Diva’s Modelling Academy which seeks to nurture modelling talent.
Connie is not the first model to raise the issue of a lack of resources. Miss Deaf Zimbabwe Thandinkosi Thandy Sibanda who participated at the Miss Deaf World 2019 held in South Africa on 19 July faced the same problem.
“Thandy performed very well. However, she was not in the top three because we were deficient in resources,” said her manager Madeline Johanna.
