BENJAMIN Lock crashed out of the semi-finals of the Old Mutual ITF F1 Zimbabwe pro-circuit tournament at Harare Sports Club yesterday. Lock, who was enjoying a good home run, fell to United States’ Ivan King, who beat him 7-5, 6-3.
The match, which lasted two hours three minutes, saw the Chicago native triumph although he conceded that he was given a good run.
“I played extremely well and I am happy with the results. The guy (Lock) plays for the Davis Cup team here and even in the United States he has been doing well,” said King.
“He is a very courageous player and I wish him the best in the next weeks.
“I just competed as hard as I could and it worked.”
The 22-year-old Lock said his opponents took his chances.
“I just want to congratulate Ivan, he played very well today, he took his chances. I wish him well in the final,” said Lock.
“I could have won the first set and, in the second set, I was just trying to find a way back.
“It’s part of the game, you win some and lose some. I am now focusing on the next games from Tuesday and I think I will have freshened up by then.”
King is scheduled to meet Evan Song in an all-American final in Harare.
