Hough went through into the finals after yesterday’s pre-qualifying round, which he carded four-over-par 76 after the single round.
The event had 21 pre-qualifying entries with 19 expected to go through and the Zimbabwean finished on position eight.
Hough was tied with South African Blanche Lamprecht and will join other players to try and make the cut after the first two rounds. 
The event had seen five players joining in the race but latter pulled out.
Phillip Tshuma, Tongo Charamba, Mohammad Mandhu and Ignatius Mketekete had all entered the event but latter settled for the local event.
Cairns who won the last local professional tournament was the pre-tournament favourite in the local tournament but has chosen to take part in the more lucrative event across the Limpopo.
Cairns will not take part in the pre-qualifiers after winning a Sunshine tour event that earned him the Sunshine tour card.
Meanwhile on the local circuit, players will tomorrow converge in Hwange where Tongoona Charamba has vowed to defend his Hwange Open title in a competition that has a US$25 000 purse.
The two-day tournament will have over 35 professionals taking to the field. Charamba who is one of the top golfers in the country will be among the cast of players in the competitive field.
“I think I am in good shape we had some practice in invitational tournaments,” Charamba said.
“The games were so competitive this season and the Hwange Open is one of the biggest events which everyone would want to win.
“The field has good players but my drive and putting were good during the past week.
“I believe I will take the good form into the event. Everyone looks forward to the event and I will try my best until the final round,” Charamba said. Hwange Charferly Open is sponsored by the mining company for US$15 000.
Local professionals last played competitively in the Lowveld –Pro-Am which Ryan Cairns won.
Cairns will remain the one to beat as well in the event and the Sunshine Tour title-holder is in superb form.
The event will have seasoned Zambezi Tour campaigners like Tshuma, Roger Jack, Dale Howie, Mketekete and the Katembenuka siblings Mairosi, Anywhere and Simon.
