Speaking at the club’s weekly media briefing yesterday, Mangwiro revealed that the only way they can repay their fans who stand by them during the trying times is to win the Mbada Cup.
“We have been driving the message to the players that it’s important for us to win the Mbada Cup and if you look at the attendance fans didn’t ditch us even when the results were not coming.
“The only way we can pay our supporters is winning the Mbada Cup and represent the country in the Caf Confederation Cup next year.
“The reality is that a top four finish is now impossible so there is need for us to do well in this cup.
“There is everything to play for in the Mbada Cup like individual accolades but most importantly to represent the country in the Caf Confederation Cup which gives us an opportunity to market ourselves,” said Mangwiro.
Mangwiro said he is happy to welcome back four of his players who missed their last league game against Monomotapa — Asani Nhongo, Hardlife Zvirekwi, David Rediyoni and Tendai Samanja.
The quartet was serving suspensions for having picked three yellow cards in the league.
“Our preparations are going on well and we have a clean bill of health as we also welcome four of our players who were suspended in our last match.
“We are trying to come up with a strong team possible and you can expect some changes from the team that played Monomotapa.
“And against Monoz the guys served us well although they failed to finish off our opponents.
“It’s a plus on our side because it shows we have players who are ready to compete — we have depth in our squad,” said Mangwiro.
CAPS United and Buffaloes have already met twice this year with both games ending in stalemates but Mangwiro is confident of snatching a win this time around.
“Our two matches against Buffaloes have ended in draws but CAPS asked more questions as we played better football by far than them but somehow we lacked the ability to kill off the match.
“I hope this time around we will get it right and when I was at Monoz we beat Buffaloes at Sakubva and we can do the same at Gibbo.
“There is tremendous progress over the past few weeks and I think after those trying times we have hit the right chord and results are now coming.
“I wouldn’t want to say we are higher up there but we will get there,” said Mangwiro.
