BULAWAYO Pool Association (BPA) Premiership side Lounge Sharks were on Easter Sunday crowned champions of the associationaï¿½ï¿½s annual two-day Easter teams contest after they got the better of seasoned campaigners in the final match.

Following their achievement, the Tendai Charuka-led Lounge Sharks walked away with $400 and a shield. Entumbane went home $275 richer while expensively assembled Archers scooped the third prize of $175.

Prosper Nsingoaï¿½ï¿½s West Commonage came out fourth to pocket $75 ahead of reigning BPA champions Kings who were awarded $50 after coming out fifth.

Bambi Lounge, a Division One outfit based in Rangemore, surprised all and sundry when they finished the tournament as the sixth best team in the process getting $35 as their prize money.

The club, founded by BPA committee member and Funeral Fund chairman Rocker Mbuvah claimed the scalps of many perennial heavyweights when a number of the contestaï¿½ï¿½s followers doubted their capabilities.

High on the proceedings of the final day was the performance of newboys Lobengula Sharks, a team that is home to 16-year-old Tafadzwa Mshangwe who beat esteemed West Commonage player Prosper aï¿½?Sexyaï¿½? Nsingo in one of the singles quarter final ties.

Lobengula Sharks are coached buy experienced Entumbane player Kenny Nyandoro who was pleased by their performance.

aï¿½?This is just their first season and itaï¿½ï¿½s a promising start considering that these players have never played for any other team before. I would also want to thank BPA for an organised tournament and giving some of these boys some exposure,aï¿½? said Nyandoro.

BPA publicity secretary Farai Nyandoro gave special mention to all the participants.

He showed that he greatly upholds the spirit of Fair Play as admitted that he had committed a foulAï¿½ after the umpires sought his opinion. Rarely do you see such honest players,aï¿½? said Farai adding that Mafikizolo of Pumula South also exhibited a professional approach to the game when they went on to beat Masters after they had already been knocked out on day two of the tournament.
