A MAN battered his live-in girlfriend when he came across a candid message on their shared phone sent by another lover complimenting her for her sexual prowess.
Menelisi Khumalo (27) from Village 6 Sijawukwe in Inyathi blew a fuse and beat up Nkosinothando Ncube (24) for being unfaithful.
Despite Ncube saying the message was stray, standing by her a�?deny, deny, denya�? strategy, Khumalo seethed with anger and went on to beat her all over the body with an electric cord leaving her with deep wounds.
Ncube made a police report at Inyathi Police Station on 29 June.
When the police went to fetch Khumalo they couldna��t find him. Detectives subsequently launched a manhunt and caught up with him at Nkayi Business Centre a month later.
He appeared before Nkayi resident magistrate Temba Chimiso and pleaded not guilty to the physical abuse charge.
In his statement he said: a�?I had to beat her out of anger after I received a love message thanking her for her sexual prowess in bed. I felt I was used as I had finished paying bride price, but she cheats on me.a�?
The magistrate found him guilty nonetheless. He was convicted and sentenced to 30 days in prison. .
