A MAN who pounded his 31-year-old girlfriend’s head against a concrete floor on Christmas Day following a dispute over the custody of their baby has been told he faces jail.Prince Silemba, 25, of New Lobengula, will learn his fate today after admitting physical abuse before Western Commonage magistrate Temba Chimiso last Friday.
Silemba, the court heard, went to Millicent Moyo’s house in Lobengula West intending to see their baby. Prosecuting, Fiona Ncube told how Silemba found his girlfriend standing at the gate holding their two-year-old baby girl.
“She handed him their daughter and went inside the house to change her shoes. But when she came out, she discovered that Silemba had fled with the child,” said Ncube.
The court was told that Moyo followed her boyfriend to his house whereupon arrival an altercation ensued over the custody of the baby.
The enraged Silemba, the court heard, flew into a rage and punched Moyo several times all over the body.
He then allegedly pinned Moyo down and banged her head against the tarmac, inflicting serious head injuries. Moyo was rushed to hospital where she was treated and discharged.
She was in court to see her boyfriend admitting the assault before he was told by the magistrate a custodial sentence may be handed out when he returns to court for sentencing today.
