NEW YORK. – The latest Powerball numbers have been drawn after the lottery was delayed for hours.
According to Powerball, which kept players eagerly waiting to hear whether anyone had won the estimated US$2.04 billion jackpot on Monday night, the delay was the result of a “participating lottery needing extra time to complete the required security protocols”.
Yesterday, Powerball announced that the winning numbers were 10, 33, 41, 47, and 56 with a red ball 10.
The Powerball winning numbers for the record US$2.04 billion jackpot were drawn yesterday morning after a 10-hour delay caused by a participating local lottery failing to submit its sales data in time for the drawing scheduled for Monday night.
The winning Powerball numbers drawn are 10, 33, 41, 47 and 56.
The Powerball was 10 and the PowerPlay was 2x.
The Powerball drawing, typically broadcast live on television stations across the country and YouTube just before 11 p.m. three nights a week, failed to happen as scheduled Monday night.
One of the 48 participating lotteries “had not finished processing its sales and play data,” according to Powerball officials.
Powerball officials said all participating lotteries are required to submit that information before the drawing can take place.
The lottery that caused the delay was not named.
“Powerball has stringent security requirements to protect the integrity of the game and remains committed to holding a drawing that gives all players a fair chance to win,” Powerball officials said.
Powerball is offered in 45 United states (including New Jersey) as well as Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
The jackpot reached the record US$1.9 billion jackpot after 40 drawings without a big Powerball winner.
The last jackpot was won by a US$206.9 million Powerball ticket purchased in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, for the August 3 drawing.
The longest jackpot run in Powerball history without a top prize winner ended on Oct. 4, 2021, when a ticket in California won a US$699.8 million jackpot on the 41st drawing.
The previous biggest jackpots in lottery history are a Powerball win worth US$1.586 billion on Jan. 13, 2016, followed by a US$1.537 billion Mega Millions jackpot won on Oct. 23, 2018. –www.nj.com
