Families across Bulawayo are in for a real treat during the Easter holidays as Luna Park operators are to set to unveil new rides in April.
Family Amusement Park, the proprietors of Luna Park, are raring to go and eager for the holidays to arrive sooner.
Having had to camp in Bulawayo for the last five months, they are eager to resume operations as the April holidays draw closer.
Luna Park is the only mobile leisure-ride centre in Zimbabwe and the operators move to new places seasonally.
They have once again committed to providing their services to Bulawayo for the month of April at the open space at the corner of Masotsha Ndlovu Avenue and Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Street.
Established in the 1970s, the Luna Park has always been a favourite for many – from children to adults. With joy rides like jets, the Ferris wheel and the roller coaster, the Luna Park is definitely the go-to place for the whole family.
It is mostly popular during the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) period, in April, when the owners station the leisure machines close to the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre (ZIEC) for the convenience of those who would have visited the annual trade showcase.

In an interview with Chronicle, Family Amusement Park managing director, Mr Witness Chihota said they are glad the holidays they have been eagerly waiting for are fast approaching.
“We have been eagerly waiting for the holidays to arrive and seeing that March is coming to an end, we are rejoicing. We have been making preparations so that when the holidays arrive, we are ready to break the ground and serve the community of Bulawayo.
“We have made preparations in terms of servicing our equipment, repainting the machines that were exposed to the rain to give them a brand new look as well as adding more rides to the amusement park,” he said.
Mr Chihota said they were looking forward to launching new machines during the ZITF period.
“We are pleased to inform the public that we value them dearly and we are at their service for the whole period of April.
Not only are we there to cater for their needs, but we are also concerned about their safety which is why we keep our machines in check and in good condition. During the ZITF period, we hope to launch new machines which we have shipped; they are on their way,” he said.
The Luna Park has extended their courtesy to the community of Bulawayo as they are prepared to stick around beyond April.
Mr Chihota said they are planning on delaying their departure to cater for others who would not have had enough of the rides during the April holidays. -@Sagepapie14
