Up-and-coming thespians, as well as aspiring actors and actresses, are set to gather at Cilla’s Conference Centre in Bulawayo today to hear from Bulawayo-born South African actor, Luthuli Dlamini, as he imparts his knowledge on the film industry.
Dlamini, known for his acting stints in South African small screen productions, Generations, Jacob’s Cross, InterSEXions, Rockville, Room, Tempy Pushas, and Uzalo has been in the film scene for more than two decades.
Since he came back to Zimbabwe recently, he has outlined his vision to help young thespians in a cut-throat business.
In a recent interview, he said there is so much potential from young thespians.
“Ever since I’ve been here, I’ve seen a lot of potential within the film sector and other facets of art. As I was watching a play at the Bulawayo Theatre, I could see how invested these young ones are. There’s so much more we could do to help them.
“The idea is to make them understand the ins and outs of the game and I think I’ve seen pretty much enough to help them grow. They need to make money from their craft and I’m prepared to hand-hold them in the process,” he said.
Topics to be covered during the two-session masterclass include acting for television and film, script breakdown, audition techniques, the business of film as well as a Question and Answer session.
The seasoned actor, who has spent considerable time behind the camera in the UK and South Africa, boasts extensive experience. He has recently transitioned into an independent film producer, with his latest release, The Cold Father.
