BANGKOK is abuzz with anticipation for the Miss Universe 2025 finale this Saturday, where Zimbabwe’s Lyshanda Moyas has emerged as a major standout among nearly 80 international contestants.
Throughout rehearsals, public appearances, and the highly anticipated swimsuit showcase, Moyas has captivated both locals and international onlookers in Thailand with her exceptional poise, striking elegance, and quiet confidence, earning widespread praise from Thai spectators who have described her as natural, graceful, and truly unforgettable.
One Thai fan, Nattapong S, said: “The Zimbabwe contestant stands out immediately. She is elegant without being showy and carries herself with real confidence. Many of us are watching her closely and think she has a strong chance.”
Another local observer, Kanya P, added: “She has a very calming presence on stage. You can see she is proud of who she represents, and that makes people admire her even more.”
As the competition enters its final week, the pressure is mounting. Contestants must now demonstrate not only beauty but also confidence, cultural awareness, stage presence, and the ability to connect with audiences and judges.
Lyshanda has embraced this challenge, moving through rehearsals with focus and determination, earning nods of approval from her team and organisers.
Back home, Zimbabweans are rallying behind their queen. Social media platforms and local communities are buzzing with voting drives and messages of support.
One supporter, Ruvimbo T, said: “We are all holding our breath for her. Lyshanda has made us proud. We are voting every day and encouraging everyone we know to do the same.”
Support has poured in from across the country. Tawanda Mpu from Bulawayo added: “She carries herself with dignity and charm. Everyone at university is talking about her. She is our hope, and we will keep voting for her until the very end.”
Fadzai Kandowana from Mutare echoed the sentiment.

“She has already shown she can represent Zimbabwe beautifully. Now it’s her moment on the world stage, and we are behind her completely.”
Pageantry in Zimbabwe has evolved into more than just a competition — it has become a national conversation. Once considered a niche event, Miss Universe Zimbabwe now commands attention across media platforms, with communities closely following contestants’ progress, celebrating achievements, and encouraging participation through voting.
Meanwhile, Thailand is balancing the glamour of Miss Universe with a period of national mourning following the passing of a revered royal figure. Contestants and tourists have been asked to respect local customs, dress modestly in certain areas, and observe mourning protocols. Despite this, Thai fans have warmly embraced the pageant, creating an atmosphere of admiration and support.
