He told H-Metro he was honoured in a foreign land as a community builder and unifier by the Australian Government and Zimbabwean community resident there.
“This was a hectic year for me and my team since we got freedom from the Australian Government to travel and also the freedom to gather and perform.
“I was nominated on two occasions, one as the Community Champion through music and the second as the Best Artist coming out of Zimbabwe by the Zimbabwean community based in Australia.
“I scooped those two awards. I was also featured on Jive Entertainment Zimbabwe and Coca-Cola on the Beat,” he said.
General Bazuka, who started recording as a hobby, believes he will end the year on a flier.
“I have three hot tracks coming soon following the recent release with Shantel titled Usabope Dhongi, which surprised many people since I tried a new genre of kanindo, which was well received and still getting huge reviews.
“The new videos coming are on Ndamukoniwa, Anzou and Vapavhuri,” he said.
The crooner said he learnt to reinvent the wheel after being linked with Shantel Sithole.
“Linking up with Shantel was made easier by my friends in the industry.
“Gift Petro spoke to producer Gibson Makumbe who is the manager of Shantel. Makumbe then looked at my style of music and they agreed to give it a go.
“The video shoot was more like a party because we agreed to make it more like a comedy show.
“I visited Zimbabwe to have this done in my presence. Naxo produced the video.”
General Bazuka hailed Shantel for her creative edge.
“I find Shantel as a very innovative artist, who is creative and someone who has passion for music.
“She knows when to change her art in doing something that suits her audience.
“From the way I have worked with Shantel, I have seen that she is someone who is persistent.
“Whenever she is trying to do something, she will always come up with something new.”
He added:
“To be honest, these awards made me feel that there are people out there who understand where I stand.
“It also opened a Pandora box as far as the sponsors and promoters are concerned because now I am having a lot of shows with people coming to me.
“For instance, the mayor of Oban City also approached me because he wants me to be a role model for the people of Oban.
“In December I was nominated to be one of the performers for a cultural exchange show in December.
“It made me feel so great. It made me feel that I am accepted on the music scene,” he said.
He said the industry was a tough one which needs people with commitment.
“I urge local artists and my people to never give up in life.
“In short, never say never and don’t listen to negative criticism or people calling you names in life.”
