MABVUKU High will be a hive of activity when over 10 schools converge this morning for the Mabvuku-Tafara Sports Development Council campaign against drugs.
The sports tournament will see schools such as Churchill, Mabvuku High, Tafara High, Oriel Boys and Girls High among others battling it out in various sports codes.
The event is organised by the Mabvuku-Tafara Sports Development Council led by Tendai “T Bunz” Zhakata on behalf of Mabvuku-Tafara Member of Parliament, Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya.
“We are going to host the second Mabvuku-Tafara Sports Development Council, Say No to Drugs sports tournament at Mabvuku High tomorrow (today) with several high schools expected to take part.
“The tournament is held to interact with students and local youths through sports in a bid to encourage abstinence from drugs. The tournament will see athletes taking part in sports codes like basketball, soccer, netball, chess, and table tennis.
“This will be the second time we will be hosting such a tournament after we hosted the Mabvuku-Tafara Sports Development Council say no to drugs sports tournament for the youths on February 21,” said Zhakata.
Zhakata is hopeful that the event is going to be a success considering the number of participants, who have confirmed their availability.
“We are looking forward to a successful tournament as many schools have confirmed their availability,” added Zhakata.
