Sungura ace Alick Macheso charged $12,000 lobola for his daughter Sharon who was customarily married on Tuesday evening by Kudakwashe Munetsi who works in South Africa . The ceremony took place at Macheso’s house in Waterfalls and a source who attended told our Harare Bureu that “cash” items on the list added up to $12,000 and the would-be son-in-law paid half the amount. “He was charged $12, 000 in items that are paid in cash excluding cattle and clothes. The men that were sent by the son-in-law to pay lobola on his behalf left $6, 000.”
Macheso could not confirm the figure, but said it was a lot of money. “It was a lot of money, but I will only disclose it on the day of their wedding, not now,” he said.
Macheso said he was happy for his daughter because the marriage dispelled bad reports previously published about her.
“A lot has been written about her, but finally God has made his way and my hope is their relationship will last forever,” he said.
The marriage comes after several reports that Sharon dated young musicians with some articles claiming she had aborted pregnancy.
Sharon said she has been in love with Munetsi for a long time and that he was not moved by the bad articles written about her.
