Zimpapers announces new board

President Mugabe has approved the re-appointment of veteran civil servant and former chief secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Charles Utete as the chairperson of the Zimpapers board for a period of five years from February 1. Dr Utete takes over from Dr Paul Chimedza who won the Gutu South constituency seat in the July 31 harmonised elections and was subsequently appointed the Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care.

Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo said in a letter to Dr Utete yesterday that the other board members would be cultural expert and National Gallery of Zimbabwe executive director Doreen Sibanda, Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciencies at Lupane State University Karen Dube and lawyer Terence  Hussein.

Businessman Delma Lupepe, development consultant Dr Nyasha Madzingira, chartered accountant Rungano Mbire, banking and corporate finance executive  George Manyere, director of Information and Public Relations at the National University of Science and Technology  Felix Moyo and entreprenuer Rejoice Nharaunda complete the list.

“We look forward to working with you and your colleagues on the board to ensure that Zimpapers improves its investment portfolio and maintains a leading role in the industry to benefit all Zimbabweans by promoting and defending the national interest,” said Professor Moyo in the letter.

“Your service to Zimpapers is invaluable and therefore most appreciated.”
Those retained on the board were Dr Madzingira, Mbire and Lupepe.

Dr Munyaradzi Kereke who was elected legislator for Bikita West, Brigadier General Epmarcus Kanhanga who won the Guruve North seat, and Chakanyuka Karase, Joseph Mandizha and Alexander Kanengoni who were set for retirement in May were not re-appointed.
