ALICK MACHESO says he owes his success to God, band members and loyal fans.
The sungura ace made this revelation on the sidelines of his recent family show at Jongwe Corner here in Chinhoyi.
He thrilled fans with a polished performance, befitting the superstar that he has become.
“I would like to thank the good Lord for the gift of life.
“He is the one who gives us wisdom, knowledge, fortress and refuge.
“Without Him, I am doomed. Whatever job I get in life, I do it wholeheartedly,” he said.
Buoyed by the successful tour of Mashonaland West, after the launch of his album Tinosvitswa Nashe, Macheso could not hide his elation.
“Mash West has been my first port of call after launching my album. We started in Chirundu on Friday at Off-Road where we had a great show.
“Afterwards, we invaded Karoi, where we had yet another great night.
“Tonight (last Sunday) we are here doing what we know best and I am really grateful to be here.
“I have travelled around the country but what I have seen here in Chinhoyi is a cut above the rest.
“I particularly enjoyed the Chinese guys performing the Zora Butter dance.
“I never dreamt that people of different races were being touched by my music. I give credit to the Almighty,” said Macheso.
He also gave credit to his 27-member band.
“Credit goes to my all my crew members. Truly speaking, the Lord is blessing me. I hope the good Lord will keep on guiding and guarding me and the band,” he said.
Jongwe Corner general manager, Tonderai Shambira, said Macheso performed beyond expectations.
“Baba Shero is a genius. He performed beyond expectations. It was truly a joyous night,” said Shambira.
