Macheso descends on Pamuzinda

There is certainly no doubt that tonight’s gig will be a high-octane one, where the sungura ace has to prove to all and sundry that he is a performer of note, blessed with both the skills to entertain, dexterity and temerity to endure a seven-hour gig, all by himself since they won’t be any supporting act, this time around.

Any show is as good as a football game, so Macheso will have to put aside the accolades he got from his recent successful Jozi tour and work hard to please his local fans.
That should not be a difficult task for a man who has crossed the length and breadth of the globe in more than 15 years, entertaining people through music and dance. If anything he is expected to put up a good show and entertain his fans from Harare and its environs.

Macheso, who will be leaving for the UK in two weeks’ time  will definitely use his experience as a performer par excellence to select songs that will endear him with his fans, while generating a revelling mood among his fans.
Macheso’s manager, William Tsandukwa, said fans have nothing to worry about, adding that Macheso’s act was consistent.

“As has become the norm, he is always looking at ways to entertain his fans, so tomorrow’s show should not be an exception. He is set to mix his yesteryear hit songs with the songs from his latest album ‘Kwatakabva Mitunhu”.
Fans are starting to warm up to songs such as “Cynthia” and “Macharangwanda, off his latest album.

Macheso said when he titled the album, “Kwatakabva Mitunhu” he was not talking about his personal journey, but that of all human races.
The gifted bassist, dancer and vocalist is also expected to take fans down memory lane with hit songs like “Madhawu”, “Wemakonzo”, “Chimoko Changu” and “Tafadzwa”, which he dedicated to his second wife. His discography touches on a number of social issues which people can relate to, hence the continued rise of his popularity.

Since the formation of Orchestra Mberikwazvo in 1997, Macheso has gone on a bass guitar revolution.
His bass guitar tends to be the axis around which everything else in this band revolves.
Macheso’s style has a kind of reckless abandon that only the happy leader of a band can allow.

It speaks of innovation and ingenuity and when he gets on stage, his fans know that they have got hours of serious revelling to look forward to.
So his sojourn to Pamuzinda, which has become his second home after the Aquatic Complex, will afford his fans an opportunity to enjoy a night of uninterrupted fun.
