MUSIC fans in Victoria Falls on Thursday evening sampled some songs from an upcoming album by sungura musician Alick Macheso.
Macheso serenaded revellers at a Zimbabwe Red Cross Society Charity Concert that was held at Chinotimba Stadium in Victoria Falls where he also recorded a live DVD.
Macheso was in the resort town for the show courtesy of Zimbabwe Red Cross Society which sought to extend and celebrate its humanitarian work through song and dance at the same time fundraising for charity-related projects.

One of the songs, Ane Bhora was popular with the people who thronged the stadium. The Zimbabwe Red Cross Society ambassador also played songs such as Madhawu, Charakupa, Zvinoda Kutendwa and Shedia, putting up a well-choreographed performance for his fans.
While performing the song Zvinoda Kutendwa, Macheso listed names of departed artistes who include System Tazvida, Ephraim Joe, Leonard Dembo, Simon Chimbetu, Biggie Tembo, Solomon Skuza, Andy Brown, Chiwoniso Maraire, Admire Kasenga, Cephas Mashakada and Tongai Moyo.

These are some of the great artistes to have rocked the music industry in the country and abroad.
The song according to Macheso is about life and people should thank God that they are alive.

He also sang Tongai “Igwee” Moyo’s song Parudo from the album Toita Basa to the delight of the fans.
“Rest in peace my brother,” he said much to the delight of the fans.

Macheso’s dancers, Majuice and Madondoro also left the fans asking for more with their scintillating dance moves.
“We are here because of Red Cross. They are doing a great job in uplifting the lives of the less privileged people in our society,” said Macheso.
ZRCS marketing and public relations manager Takemore Mazuruse commended the people of Victoria Falls for turning up for the show in masses.

“The people of Victoria Falls and surrounding areas should be commended for coming in their thousands. They have supported our charity work because funds realised here are going towards purchasing an ambulance to be donated to one of the charities in the country,” he said.
Macheso was appointed as the Red Cross humanitarian ambassador early this year and has embarked on a number of fundraising events including the inaugural charity concert held in Mbare, Harare.
