Manicaland provincial manager Paddington Munjoma said the meeting was also a rare opportunity for all provincial representatives to meet Macheso who will be instrumental in running their advocacy campaigns.
“All provincial representatives have their areas of need. We want Macheso to assist us in sourcing funding.
“His ambassadorial role does not end at the head- quarters, once he starts visiting all the provinces he will get to know what kind of problems the people in some remote areas are facing and together we can see how best can we assist them,” said Munjoma.
Macheso said he was ready to assist through holding charity benefit shows.
“I’m not new in these charity programmes, I told Red Cross that we are going to assist each other to help the vulnerable people and all those in need. I should not ask for money whatsoever, but rather my intention is to partner with them (Red Cross) to reach the desired goal of helping the people.
“The ambassadorial role does not say I should get my pockets full first, but I should play a leading role in fund-raising for the needy,” said Macheso.
Macheso’s recent tour of the United Kingdom won him the hearts of the British Red Cross Society who promised the sungura ace several tours around Europe before year end.
