in Gweru, the City of Progress.
Fans in the City of Kings and Queens, as Bulawayo is popularly known, will have a feast on December 15 at the Amphitheatre while the one in Gweru is scheduled for the next day.
With a new album still bubbling under, Macheso, or Extrabasso to his fans, will be jamming at full throttle touring outside Harare to reach out to his fans as we close the year 2012.
The Bulawayo gig will give Extrabasso enough time t
o renew his romance with his fans since he rarely performs in that part of Zimbabwe. Be that as it may, Extrabasso commands a huge following in this part of Matabeleland where fans not only dance to his music but also sing along too.
Most of his gigs in the city are sold out and a repeat of his previous shows is likely to happen this time of the year as most people will have enough money to spend on fun.
One of the biggest drawcards to his shows is his innovation and creativity on stage. Every show is different from the other and he changes his playlist depending on the venue and the crowd.
But one thing that he does not do is to disappoint his multitudes of fans.
So gifted is Extrabasso that even a slight move with his bass guitar is sure to ignite enthusiasm and excitement within the crowd.
Currently doing well with his new songs such as “Huyai Samasimba” a plea to God for divine intervention, the sungura star has already won the hearts of many. The song has deep lyrics of a lost soul seeking supernatural powers to soldier on, in the face of spiritual weariness and fatigue.
Although the new album is still in the pipeline those who attend his shows regularly have become used to the new songs.
The Gweru show is likely to be a must attend for fans as it will be his last gig in the city this year. Although the city is not as big as Harare, the news that Extrabasso will be performing is as welcome as the early rains.
Though the city is docile for the greater part of the year, Gweru is expected to come alive when the Charakupa hitmaker descends on the town.
Esau Hondora, the promoter of both shows, urged fans to come in their numbers to end the year in high spirits.
