SUNGURA virtuoso, Alick Macheso, will tonight (Friday) meet his legion of fans in Mutare when he performs at popular entertainment joint, The Platinum, formerly Pick and Save. The Orchestra Mberikwazvo leader vowed to put up a sterling performance, saying fans should look forward to new choreographic acts. The potentially explosive show starts at 8pm.
“We are coming to Mutare in full force. We can’t wait to meet our beloved fans in the eastern border city. “They are new things in store for them and we urge them to come in their numbers. Our camp is ready to roar,” said Macheso speaking through his manager, Lucky Macheso.
Macheso, who recently staged successful shows in South Africa is expected to belt some of his new songs from his yet to be christened forthcoming album. He is also expected to belt out yesteryear hits that made him a household name such as Mundikumbuke, Shedia, Pakutema munda, Sarah and the award-winning Tafadzwa Nyarara.
Local artistes who were yet to be confirmed on Tuesday are expected to grace the event before Macheso jumps on the stage. Macheso’s heart-pounding heavy bass guitar, well-choreographed dances and eloquent lyrics has made him one of the best live performers in the country.
Organisers of the event said they would continue to bring upcoming and renowned artistes to the entertainment joint. A fortnight ago, man-of-the-moment, Mukudzei Mukombe, popularly known as Jah Prayzah, put the house on fire and left hundreds of revellers crying for more.
The hottest leisure centre in the eastern border city recorded its best attendance ever during the night and one wonders if the prolific song writer is going to surpass the historic feat.
