ALICK Macheso is set to lead some African artists in the JamAfro Festival running from April to August.

The festival kicks off in the United Kingdom on April 29 before being taken to Canada, Australia, South Africa, Kenya, Botswana and Zimbabwe.

UK-based JamAfro Festival co-directors, Luther Pazvakavambwa and Boniface Jana, confirmed the international tour.

Macheso will share the stage with Vee Mampeezy from Botswana, Makhadzi (South Africa), Winnie Nwagi (Uganda) and Suluman Chimbetu.

“Alick Macheso has no doubt been the king of sungura for over two decades and will kick off this tour in Birmingham, UK.

“After the UK show, we have a show lined-up in Botswana with Vee Mampeezy, who had a collaboration with Makhadzi in 2022.

“We are still in talks with the Kenyan artist’s handlers,” said Pazvakavambwa.

In an interview, Jana said they were taking the JamAfro Festival internationally.

“JamAfro is going international,” he said.

“To date, we have successfully promoted Charley Black from Jamaica, Kalado (Jamaica), Mr Eazi (Nigeria), Makhadzi (South Africa), Diamond Platinumz (Tanzania) and Davido from Nigeria just to name a few.

Jana told H-Metro that tour dates will be announced soon.

“All tour dates are going to be announced after we have finalised everything about the first United Kingdom show because we have five artists from four different countries.”

Macheso, through his public relations manager, Tichaona Makahamadze, confirmed the tour.

“We are ready for this tour, which kicks off in April in Europe, and ends in Zimbabwe in August.

“On behalf of Orchestra Mberikwazvo, we are ready to entertain our fans by giving them past and new productions,” he said.

Makahamadze assured fans to expect real value for their money during the tour.

“If you have missed Macheso’s shows, this is not the time to do so.

“Each and every performance means stamped history, and you ought to be part of the history,” he said.
