Sungura ace Alick Macheso performs in South Africa on March 28. The musician who will be performing at Chez Ntemba International Club in Johannesburg said his band has fully prepared for the show and geared up to give their fans down south a time to remember.
“This will be our first show this year and we are hoping to start on a good note,” said Macheso. He added that they had talked to the promoter about security at the show.
“Last year we had a show that ended in a violent manner and we have been given assurance by the promoters that there will be tight security, we dont want a repeat of last year” said Macheso.
The “Macharangwanda” song maker believes it is time for their fans to see his new band members.
“People have to know that we are still there and we are alive despite all the reports that Mberikwazvo’s popularity is declining,” he said.
Show co-ordinator Chiedza Chizororo of CC Promotions said all was set for the show and people must look forward to a great event.
“This is his first show in South Africa this year and we are expecting him to perform his best as he will be introducing some of his band members down here,” said Chizororo.
She gave assurance that there will be tight security tonight at the show.
Meanwhile the musician’s farewell gig has been slated for Pamuzinda Ice and Fire in Harare next Friday. He will be sharing stage with zora musician Leonard Zhakata who is riding high with his album “Zvangu Zvaita”, rasta kwasa musician Dino Mudondo and dancehall musician Shinsoman.
Shinso as the young musician is known is set to prove his ability as he will be sharing stage with big names.
The “Mayawaya” hitmaker will be sampling some of his singles that will be released this month.
“It is a big task but I am sure people will love some few bombs that I am going to drop on that same day.
“I feel honoured to be sharing the stage with big guys,” he said.
