IN a befitting Christmas present, the undisputed sungura king, Alick Chisale Macheso will present his new songs from the forthcoming album to his Mutare fans at the hottest entertainment spot Pick and Save on Sunday.
The show promises to be a stellar one hardly a week after his accomplices Leonard Zhakata and Jah Prayzah left fans crying for more at the same venue despite the chilling weather that characterised the night.
Macheso, speaking through his manager, William Tsandukwa said this time, the Mundikumbuke hit-maker was ready to dish out his songs in full since the forthcoming album was nearing completion. This comes as good news to all his fans who have been waiting patiently for new music since the release of half-baked and below par project Kwatakabva Mitunhu/Kure Kwekure in 2012.
“We are coming to Mutare with enough arsenal to put our fans in a merry making mood this festive season. Macheso doesn’t disappoint and this time we are promising nothing short of fireworks because we value our fans in Mutare a lot. Our band is intact,” said Tsandukwa, affectionately known as Yellow.
Interestingly, this will be an emotional comeback for prodigal son and talented drummer, Obert Gomba who dumped Macheso and two years ago and rejoined him recently. He was nicknamed double kicker because of his superb drum beating antics.
Fans can’t wait anymore to hop and bop for the new songs that include the already popular gem Ane bhora ndiye anomakwa.
Arguably the most talented bassist in Zimbabwe, the Tafadzwa Nyarara carver is again expected to put up his best in front of thousands of revellers who love and appreciate his well-choreographed acts alongside his outfit Orchestra Mberikwazvo that consists the likes of Zhili Mumbamulapi (chanter), Donald Gogo and Devine “Wezhira” Muzenda (lead guitar), Gift Chokumanyara and Obert Gomba (drums) Tarirenyika “Fire” Nyamunda (Rhythm guitar), Jethro Walewa (sub-rhythm), Alick Macheso and Charles Chembe (bass guitar) and Wilson Meka (backing vocalist).
His exciting antics and verve on stage are what makes him a darling of many and no doubt tomorrow, Pick and Save patrons will have blissful night.
The show starts at 8 pm.
Show organisers confirmed the show and said: “We will continue to give our patrons nothing but undiluted entertainment. Orderliness and professionalism are what makes us tick and we will make sure patrons enjoy life to the fullest while they date their favourite musicians. We also urge revellers to enjoy responsibly as we approach the year-end.”
