COMMUNITIES in Guruve and Hatcliffe are living in fear following a series of attacks by machete gangs, with several people reportedly injured in separate incidents over recent weeks.
Police are yet to issue a detailed statement, but reports from Guruve indicate that since last month, unknown assailants have been targeting residents, leaving several victims seriously injured.
The cases have been reported to the police, who are now conducting investigations.
In Hatcliffe, residents say a gang of three suspected robbers armed with a machete has been moving around the area targeting motorists and pedestrians.
Over the weekend, the trio was captured on CCTV attempting to rob a motorist of his Honda Fit.
The victim, who had parked in front of a house around midnight, managed to speed off before the suspects could seize the vehicle.
The three men fled the scene immediately after the failed attack.
Villagers and residents in both communities have since appealed to the police to intensify patrols and ensure the attackers are apprehended before more people are harmed.
