Machete wielding gang fatally stabs artisanal miner during farm raid in Shamva

Police in Shamva are investigating a case in which a machete-wielding gang raided a farm before fatally stabbing an artisanal miner with a knife in the chest.

The victim died on the spot. National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“Police in Shamva are investigating a case of murder which occurred on September 28, 2025, at the Government Farm,” he said.

“ A machete-wielding gang, led by Remembrance Matinde, alias Mutendevere, stabbed an artisanal miner, Spencer Saizi, with a knife in the chest. The victim died on the spot.

“The gang went on to deflate the left front tyre of a parked Howo truck using a sharp object before damaging the window panes of the tuck shops at the farm.

“Anyone with information that might assist with investigations should report to the nearest police station.”
